A-League new boys Auckland FC have officially announced the signing of Urawa Red Diamonds defender Hiroki Sakai.
The 34-year-old Sakai came through the youth ranks at Kashiwa Reysol and also enjoyed spells overseas with Hannover 96 and Marseille. He made 69 appearances for Urawa Red Diamonds in the J1 League over the past four seasons, scoring five goals.
At international level, Sakai has won 75 caps for Japan and represented his country at the last three World Cups.
