On August 23, the Central Coast Mariners announced the return of defender Trent Sainsbury on a three-year contract.
The 32-year-old Sainsbury previously played for the Mariners from July 2010 to January 2014, making 69 appearances and helping them win one A-League championship.
In 2014, Sainsbury began his European adventure with Zwolle, then went on to play for Jiangsu Suning in January 2016 before moving to Inter Milan, Grasshopper, PSV Eindhoven, Maccabi Haifa, Kortrijk, and Waasland-Beveren. His contract with Waasland-Beveren expired at the end of June, making him a free agent.
