Under new coach Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich’s pre-season training is in full swing. Müller: Missing out on all four titles last year has motivated the whole team, everyone is eager to start the new season

Like other Bayern teammates who participated in the European Championship, Müller will return to the team next week to officially start preparations for the new season. Sky Sport Germany spotted Müller at a golf charity event and gave him a mini exclusive interview.

Müller seemed to be in a good mood during his vacation, but as a veteran player, his expectations for the new season were no less than those of the younger players. Müller said: “I’ll be back in training next week, so I don’t really know how Bayern’s preparations are going. It will be very exciting for us players and the entire club for the new season, especially after a season where we were very unhappy with the results. The beginning of every season is a very energetic moment, and everyone must work hard to show themselves and prove themselves.”

The German team was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the European Championship held in their home country, and Müller also announced his retirement from the national team after the match, which means he will devote all his energy in the late stage of his career to Bayern’s matches. Müller looks forward to the new Bayern’s voyage and believes the team is capable of meeting the challenges ahead. Müller said: “Last season was the first time since 2012 that we didn’t win any titles. Now we have a new coach in the team and new players have joined. Everything is testing our ability to cope. So the next few weeks of preparation will be very interesting, and I believe that is the charm of the sport of football.”

The entire Bayern team will travel to Korea on July 31st to start their pre-season Asian tour. Kompany’s first official match with Bayern will be the German Cup match against Ulm on August 16th. Nine days later, the new Bundesliga season will kick off, and Bayern’s first opponent will be Wolfsburg.
