The German Football Association has officially announced that Kroos has been named the 2024 German Footballer of the Year, and Alonso has been named the Best Coach.
This is the 65th edition of the award, which is voted on by members of the German Sports Journalists Association. There were 751 votes cast, with 2 being invalid.
In terms of player votes, Kroos received 285 votes, Wirtz 246 votes for second, and Zakaria 66 votes for third. In terms of coach votes, Alonso received 503 votes, Stuttgart coach H. H. 74 votes for second, and Heidenheim coach Frank Schmidt for third.
