According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund have identified Hoffenheim forward Bayer as a replacement for Niclas Füllkrug, who is set to join West Ham United.
The 21-year-old Bayer came through the ranks at Hoffenheim and has made 46 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing 4 assists. Last season he scored 16 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances and was part of the German squad at this summer’s European Championships.
Hoffenheim are said to be demanding between €25m and €30m for Bayer. Dortmund are willing to pay the transfer fee after Füllkrug’s move is completed, and the young star will be competing with Sébastien Haller for a starting place in the new season.
