According to Sky Germany, 21-year-old Dutch international Xavi Simons has decided to spend another year on loan at RB Leipzig.
Last season, Simons joined Leipzig on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. He made 43 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig, contributing a double-double with 10 goals and 15 assists. In this year’s European Championship, Simons also put in a stellar performance, appearing in 6 games for the Netherlands with 1 goal and 3 assists, helping his team reach the semi-finals. His only goal in this year’s European Championship was the opening goal for his team in the semi-final against England.
Simons’ excellent performance has attracted interest from several clubs, including Bayern Munich. However, Sky Germany reports that the 21-year-old has rejected Bayern’s interest, and Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are currently finalizing the terms of the loan extension.
After being rejected by Simons, Bayern are now stepping up their efforts to sign young French star Desiré Doué, who is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain.
