On August 3, Borussia Dortmund officially announced the signing of 22-year-old Brazilian full-back Yan Couto from Manchester City on a loan-to-buy deal.
Dortmund will initially sign Couto on a one-year loan deal, with an obligation to buy at the end of the loan period. According to previous reports from multiple sources, the transfer fee will be €25 million, plus €5 million in add-ons.
Couto had already been training with Dortmund in the team’s training session today, wearing the club’s jersey. His transfer is now officially complete and he will wear the number 2 shirt for the Yellow and Black army next season.
Couto joined Manchester City in September 2020 from Brazilian club Coritiba. He has since been on loan to Girona and Braga. Last season, he made 34 appearances for Girona in La Liga, scoring one goal and providing eight assists, helping the team qualify for the Champions League.
