German Media: Dortmund Sporting Director Mislintat and Coach Sahin’s Relationship on the Verge of Collapse

On August 5th, according to Kicker, the relationship between Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Mislintat, and the team’s head coach, Edin Terzic, has become strained.

Reports suggest that since taking on the role of technical director and team planner in early May, Mislintat has repeatedly overstepped his duties, interfering with other aspects of the club’s operations. This has led to disagreements with club officials Michael Zorc and Hans-Joachim Watzke, as well as with coach Terzic.

Mislintat’s role at Dortmund differs from his previous roles at Stuttgart and Ajax, where he was responsible for conducting specific transfer negotiations with other clubs or players. He has expressed dissatisfaction with this change and has repeatedly exceeded his authority within his role.

In the 2023-24 season, Dortmund finished fifth in the Bundesliga but reached the Champions League final, where they lost 0-2 to Real Madrid. Due to the Bundesliga’s strong performance in European club competitions last season, the league’s fifth-placed team, Dortmund, qualified for the Champions League.
