Second Bundesliga club Köln have announced that they will hold a farewell match for club legend Lukas Podolski on October 10.
The 39-year-old Podolski joined the Köln youth academy as a child and made his first-team debut at the age of 18. Podolski has made 181 appearances for Köln, scoring 86 goals and providing 41 assists. He is highly regarded by Köln fans. In the summer of 2021, Podolski returned to his hometown, joining Polish Ekstraklasa club Górnik Zabrze and has been playing for them ever since.
The farewell match will see current Köln players face off against a team led by Podolski and consisting of German 2014 World Cup champions. Current Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will be coaching the German team.
