German Media: De Ligt Suspected of Hit-and-Run, Car Confiscated and Potential Fine

According to German media outlet Bild, Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is under investigation by Munich police for a suspected hit-and-run incident.

The report states that on Wednesday morning around 10 am, de Ligt reportedly hit a parked car on Säbener Straße but did not stop or call the police, instead driving off. Passersby then called the police, with witnesses claiming they saw the entire incident.

De Ligt was reportedly driving a €74,400 Audi Q8 on his way to training at the time. His car has since been towed away and confiscated by police, with an assessment of the damage underway. Bild suggests that the impact may have been minor, possibly causing de Ligt to not notice the collision.

A lawyer said, “If convicted, de Ligt could face up to three years in prison or a fine, but fines are usually the outcome.”
