According to Italian transfer expert Di Marzio, Mats Hummels has sent Bologna his “good-bye”. This means the German centre-back will continue to be unemployed.
Negotiations between Bologna and Hummels have been ongoing for several weeks. Just as things were progressing smoothly, Real Madrid suddenly entered the picture, but ultimately proved to be an unwelcome guest who only slowed down the entire negotiation process. Bologna, after losing Calafiori, was very hopeful of signing Hummels. This seemingly reasonable deal has now been officially rejected by Hummels.
Hummels is currently a free agent. Although Milan and Roma are also interested in him, he has never been a priority target for either club. In recent times, there have also been reports that Hummels has rejected offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and MLS. Clearly, Hummels has not yet made a clear decision about his future.
