Sky Germany reports that Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has been “suppressed” by Manuel Neuer for years, will be the new starting goalkeeper for Germany following Neuer’s retirement from the national team.
According to reports, the German Football Association has decided to temporarily appoint Ter Stegen as the starting goalkeeper. He will start in Germany’s upcoming international matches against Hungary on September 8th and the Netherlands on September 11th.
Following Neuer’s retirement from the national team, Ter Stegen also sent his best wishes to his teammate of many years on social media: “Congratulations on your career with Germany, forever world champion and legend of German football.”
