In the first round of the 24/25 German Cup, Borussia Dortmund easily defeated regional league side Phönix Lübeck 4-1 away from home on August 18th, securing their place in the next round.
After just 3 minutes, new Dortmund signing Anton headed in the opening goal from a corner kick, with fellow newcomer Groß providing the assist. In the 30th minute, Adeyemi won a penalty, which Emre Can converted to make it 2-0. Shortly before half-time, Groß set up Brandt to give Dortmund a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Iloca pulled one back for Phönix Lübeck in the 55th minute after Brandt lost possession. However, Dortmund quickly restored their three-goal advantage when Duranville scored in the 63rd minute, assisted by Jan Küto.
Dortmund went on to secure a 4-1 victory and advance to the next round of the German Cup.
