German outlet FUSSBALL.NEWS reported that Frankfurt are currently targeting Japan national team defender Hiroki Machida.
Previously, Frankfurt intended to sign Greek international Konstantinos Koulierakis to strengthen the centre-back position, but the transfer fell through. Machida, who plays for Sint-Truiden, is a good alternative, and the player himself has a preference for the Bundesliga. Machida played 31 matches last season and was an undisputed starter for Sint-Truiden.
According to reports, Frankfurt could pay €8 million for Machida’s transfer, but Crystal Palace are also joining the race.
