Official: Blessin appointed as St. Pauli head coach

Newly promoted Bundesliga side St. Pauli have officially announced the appointment of Timo Blessin as their new head coach.

Blessin, 51, has previously managed RB Leipzig U17, RB Leipzig U19, Oostende and Genoa. In July 2023, he took charge of Sint-Truiden, leading them to a second-place finish in the league and the Belgian Cup title.

On his appointment at St. Pauli, Blessin said: “St. Pauli FC has an incredible attraction in Germany and internationally. The club stands for clear values and ambitious professional sports work. Therefore, taking charge of the club long-term in the 2. Bundesliga is a big task. We want to bravely meet this challenge with the unity of the team and the entire club. I am very much looking forward to challenging the big clubs in the Bundesliga at the Millerntor stadium.”
