On August 18, German FA sporting director Rudi Völler spoke to the media, addressing questions about Leon Goretzka’s future with the national team.
Wöller said: “Goretzka still has the ability to play in the 2026 World Cup, but if he wants to play in the World Cup, then logically speaking, seeking a transfer would be an effective way. If he can play elsewhere, it would be helpful for him, but it’s all up to him to decide.”
Previously, Goretzka was left out of Bayern Munich’s squad for the first round of the German Cup, suggesting he is not in new coach Vincent Kompany’s plans.
