Speaking about Kimmich’s position, Kompany said: “Throughout his career, Kimmich has always been able to play right-back. With Boetius and Stanisic, we have two more excellent right-backs. As a season-long option, everything is possible. I prefer to see Kimmich playing in midfield. He doesn’t play there because he’s Kimmich, but because he has proven in every training session that he should be there. He seems to enjoy playing in midfield as well.”
When asked about the starting line-up for the first match, Kompany said: “Whether Olicse and Palhinha will start? They’re very likely to play many games this season, but let me keep the starting line-up for tomorrow a secret for now.”
Regarding his opponents, Kompany said: “Wolfsburg is a team that can qualify for European competitions. We’ll face a strong opponent, and the away game will be tough. In my opinion, it’s important to show the team’s personality.”
