On July 11, Shanghai Shenhua officially announced the signing of Fernando on loan.
The announcement is as follows:
After friendly consultations and reaching an agreement with Shandong Taishan Football Club and the player himself, Fernando will join Shanghai Shenhua Football Club on loan from today, with the loan period ending at the end of 2024.
Fernando was born on March 16, 1993, in Brazil. He is 175cm tall and plays as a forward. His professional career started at Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo Football Club. In 2015, Fernando joined Chongqing Lifan to play in the Chinese Super League. He then joined Hebei Team, Guangzhou Team, and Shandong Taishan Team successively, playing a total of 171 games for these teams, scoring 36 goals and providing 49 assists.
In October 2019, Fernando obtained Chinese citizenship and was selected for the Chinese national team training camp in September 2020. In the World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Singapore on March 21, 2024, Fernando made his debut for the national team. He has since played four official matches for the Chinese national team, scoring one goal. As a fast and technically skilled forward, Fernando’s arrival will further strengthen Shenhua’s attacking power and enrich the team’s tactical approach. We expect Fernando to integrate into the team as soon as possible and help Shenhua achieve better results in the upcoming three-way battles.
