Uruguay centre-back Araujo was forced off injured during Uruguay’s Copa America quarter-final against Brazil with a muscular injury. There has been no official update on his condition, but it is currently believed that he could be out for two months.
Sources within the Uruguayan national team have told Spanish newspaper Sport that a further medical examination is pointless at this stage as the affected area is still swollen. It is speculated that he could be out for eight weeks.
This means that Araujo has already been ruled out of this Copa America and will also definitely miss Barcelona’s pre-season training, which begins on July 10th. With the new La Liga season kicking off at the end of August, if he is confirmed to be out for two months, Araujo will also miss the first few games of Barcelona’s new season.
