On July 7th, Brazil was eliminated from the Copa América quarter-finals after losing to Uruguay in a penalty shootout. After the match, Brazilian captain Danilo revealed in an interview that he is considering ending his international career.
Speaking about the loss, Danilo said: “I hope the Brazilian fans can be more patient and give coach Dorival and the many young players in the team more time.”
Asked about his future plans, Danilo said: “I haven’t decided yet, I am reconsidering whether to end my international career.”
The 32-year-old Danilo has made 61 appearances for the Brazilian national team, scoring one goal and providing six assists. He helped Brazil reach the final of the last Copa América, where they narrowly lost 0-1 to Argentina.
