The U.S. Men’s National Team has announced that head coach Gregg Berhalter has stepped down. U.S. Soccer Sporting Director Matt Croke will take over as interim head coach and begin the search for a permanent replacement.
Croke stated: “Our focus now is on identifying a coach who can maximize our potential as we continue to prepare for the 2026 World Cup. The search is underway.”
Berhalter previously served as head coach from 2018-2022, stepping down after the World Cup in Qatar. He returned to the position shortly after to lead the U.S. in the home-based Copa América. The hosts exited the tournament in the group stage.
