On July 5, the Ecuadorian Football Federation officially announced the sacking of Ecuador coach Félix Sánchez.
The announcement reads:
Today we have agreed to terminate our contractual relationship with Félix Sánchez. We thank Félix and his coaching staff for their work and professionalism and wish them success in their future projects.
In this morning’s Copa América quarter-final, Ecuador drew 1-1 with Argentina after 90 minutes, but were eliminated from the semi-finals after losing to Argentina on penalties in extra time.
