J-League club Machida Zelvia officially announced the signing of Japanese international Yuta Nakayama.
The 27-year-old Nakayama, a left-back, came through the youth ranks at Kashiwa Reysol. He embarked on his overseas journey in 2019, playing for Dutch side PEC Zwolle and English Championship club Huddersfield Town. Last season, he made 24 appearances for Huddersfield across all competitions, registering two assists. At the end of the season, his contract with the club expired, making him a free agent.
On the international stage, Nakayama has represented Japan 22 times and was part of the squad that competed in this year’s Qatar Asian Cup.
Machida Zelvia are currently sitting top of the J-League table with 50 points. After bringing in two Japanese internationals, Yuma Soma and Yuta Nakayama, the team will be pushing for the league title in the final stretch of the season.
