According to Korean media reports, as of July 21, over 2 million spectators have attended South Korean professional league matches this season.
The K1 and K2 leagues attracted a total of 2,022,026 spectators in the previous season, making it the season with the lowest attendance since the introduction of the promotion and relegation system in South Korean professional football.
This season, the South Korean professional football league has surpassed 2 million spectators in just 282 matches (144 for K1 league and 138 for K2 league), achieving this feat in 40 fewer matches than last season. This breaks the historical record for the fewest matches required to reach 2 million spectators in a single season.
Meanwhile, the cumulative attendance for K1 league up to the end of round 24 stands at 1,506,529, a 2.5% increase compared to the cumulative attendance of 1,469,703 for the same period last season. In addition, as of the end of round 23 of the K2 league, the cumulative attendance has reached 536,408, a 78.7% increase compared to the cumulative attendance of 300,212 for the same period last season.
