According to journalist Toni Juanmarti from Spanish media outlet Sport, Barcelona has begun to listen to offers for German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan due to the club’s ongoing financial issues with FFP.
Gundogan is currently representing Germany in the 2024 European Championship, hosted in his home country. Germany topped their group with two wins and a draw, qualifying for the knockout stage, where they will face Spain in the same bracket. As Germany’s captain, Gundogan has started all three matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
The 33-year-old Gundogan joined Barcelona on a free transfer last summer, but the club’s performance has been underwhelming this season. He has made 51 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, registering five goals and 14 assists. His current market value is around €15 million.
New manager Thomas Tuchel, who previously coached Germany and Gundogan, may potentially consider him a regular starter for the upcoming season.
