On July 28, it was officially announced that former Atlético Madrid center-back Stefan Savić has joined Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor.
Speaking at Savić’s signing ceremony, club vice-president Serkan Kırıcı said: “We have a lot of faith in the experience of this player. All of our fans are very passionate about football. All the fans know the abilities of this player we have signed. This is a very good transfer for our team. We all witnessed the problems we experienced in this position in the past years. He was considered the best player in this position that could be bought. I hope this will be a good choice for both him and us. We, together with our fans, are delighted to bring a player with such a great football history and experience to Trabzonspor. May this transfer be beneficial for all of us.”
Savić, who is very happy to join the club, said: “I am delighted to be here. I know I have come to a club that really wanted me to come here and made sacrifices for that. Trabzonspor is the right club for me. I also told my entourage that Trabzonspor is the right place for me. I came here without hesitation. I want to wear the Trabzonspor jersey as soon as possible and fight with my teammates on the pitch. I hope this year will be a successful one for all of us. In addition, I want to thank Atlético Madrid, where I played for many years, for allowing me to transfer to Trabzonspor.”
The 33-year-old Montenegrin defender joined Atlético Madrid in July 2015, and has played for the club for nine years, becoming a veteran defender for Los Rojiblancos.
