La Liga Salary Ranking: Mbappe Only Third, De Jong Tops Lewandowski, 10 Players Include 6 Real Madrid Players

European media outlet 90min has revealed the La Liga player salary ranking as of July 20th, European time. Mbappe’s salary only ranks third, with De Jong and Lewandowski in first and second, respectively. Among the top ten, Real Madrid occupies six places.

The highest earner is Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, with an annual income of €37.5 million. According to previous reports from Catalan media, de Jong’s after-tax guaranteed annual salary last season was approximately €18 million (increased to €19 million this season), in addition to relatively high bonus clauses. Bonuses triggered last season reached €6.2 million, and adding taxes, Barcelona’s spending is quite astonishing.

Second on the list is Polish star Robert Lewandowski, with €33.5 million. The French star, Kylian Mbappe, who just joined Real Madrid, has an annual salary of €31.2 million, ranking third on the list. However, according to previous reports from AS, although Mbappe’s annual salary ranks third in La Liga, it is not the biggest part of his income. He will receive a high signing bonus from Real Madrid (players joining on a free transfer usually have signing bonuses, and Mbappe’s signing bonus is “phenomenal”). Additionally, Real Madrid allows Mbappe to keep 60-80% of his image rights. Obviously, Real Madrid’s commercial revenue generation capability is unparalleled in the football world, and will bring significant benefits to the French player and his team. In short, Mbappe’s actual income will be much higher than this ranking.

From fourth to tenth place in terms of salary are Alaba (Real Madrid, €22.5 million), Oblak (Atletico Madrid, €20.8 million), Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid, €20.8 million), Bellingham (Real Madrid, €18.7 million), Gundogan (Barcelona, €16.6 million), Valverde (Real Madrid, €15 million), and Courtois (Real Madrid, €14.5 million).

Among the top ten, six players are from Real Madrid, three from Barcelona, and one from Atletico Madrid.
