Miatovic: Modric should consider retirement, his glory days are over

On July 22, Real Madrid legend Predrag Mijatovic suggested that Luka Modric should retire, stating that he should realize his glory days are over.

Modric signed a one-year contract extension with Real Madrid, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2025. The 38-year-old will continue to play for the Galacticos in the 2024-25 season.

Miatovic commented on Modric, saying: “This summer, Modric received many offers, including from Saudi Arabia, but he rejected them all and chose to stay at Real Madrid. However, Modric is no longer capable of starting for Real Madrid. He should have realized this last season.”

Miatovic suggested Modric retire soon: “He is about to turn 39. I think it’s time for him to consider retirement. Modric should recognize that his playing career is over.”

In the 2023-24 season, Modric won the La Liga and Champions League titles with Real Madrid. This summer, he led Croatia in the European Championship, but the team was eliminated in the group stage.
