On August 3rd, Spanish media outlet AS reported that La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are not interested in French defender Clément Lenglet.
According to reports, Lenglet was recommended to the Rojiblancos, but they declined. Atlético manager Diego Simeone does not seem to appreciate the French player. Furthermore, Atlético are still hoping to sign Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. Earlier reports suggested that Atlético’s signing of Geertruida was hampered by Feyenoord’s dissatisfaction with the offer.
In addition, reliable sources indicate that La Liga side Real Sociedad also have no intention of signing Lenglet, as they are unwilling to take on the Frenchman’s high salary.
Last season, Lenglet joined Aston Villa on loan from Barcelona, making 25 appearances for Villa (24 starts), with one assist. He currently has a Transfermarkt market value of €10 million.
