Andre Mancini, son of former Inter Milan, Manchester City and Italy boss Roberto Mancini, will be joining Barcelona as the deputy transfer manager to Deco, according to reports from Catalan outlet Sport and Italian football expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano revealed: “Mancini’s son Andre will join Deco’s team, plans are finalized. Andre will be moving to Barcelona next week after leaving his role at Sampdoria to start a new chapter in his life.”
Sport indicated: “The bustle in Barcelona’s offices will not stop with the arrival of Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. The management will continue to act, and will sign a new employee: Andre Mancini, an Italian, the son of former player and coach Roberto Mancini, and current sporting director of Sampdoria. This is something that has been brewing for weeks and Deco met with Andre a few days ago to finalize the terms of the contract.”
According to the Catalan media, the future of Barcelona’s sports department will be led by Rafael Yuste (including other sports teams), Deco as transfer manager, Andre as Deco’s deputy, and Bojan Krkic as coordinator, whose main job will be to coordinate the affairs of Barcelona’s first team, La Masia, and loaned players.
Andre Mancini, 31, had a less successful playing career, although he played for Manchester City and Inter Milan youth teams, he never made an appearance for the first teams of either club. After playing for teams like Valladolid, Budapest and US, he retired in 2017 at the age of 25. In 2018, he completed a course in sports management, briefly worked as a football agent, and then worked as an assistant to director Prade at Fiorentina. In 2023, he joined Sampdoria and was later appointed as sporting director, responsible for scouting and transfers.
