August 9th, Longo, the editor-in-chief of the well-known Spanish media outlet “AS”, wrote an article today stating that even if Alvarez joins Atletico Madrid this summer, Rodrigo will not consider joining Manchester City. The English club has tried to convince the Brazilian to join in the past few months.
Rodrigo himself has repeatedly stated that he will not join, even if French forward Mbappe joins this summer, which may make the young Brazilian player lose his starting position. Longo claims that even if Manchester City coach Guardiola tried to personally call Rodrigo to convince him to join, he would not consider it. His current contract with Real Madrid expires in 2028.
