The 23-year-old Japanese international Takefusa Kubo has reportedly rejected a four-year, €160 million offer from Saudi Arabia.
Kubo renewed his contract with Real Sociedad in February this year until 2029. The club president Jokin Aperribay has denied the possibility of the player leaving this summer. Kubo’s rejection of an irresistible Saudi offer was confirmed in an interview with France Football. He revealed that the Saudi side offered him a four-year contract worth €160 million, with an annual salary of €40 million.
Kubo said: “For me, the most important thing has always been to compete with the best players and play with the best players. If one day Saudi Arabia becomes the best league in the world due to its sporting achievements, then I would go there. But for now, it is only financially attractive.”
