According to Spanish newspaper Marca, French star Kylian Mbappé will not be given the penalty-taking responsibility at Real Madrid following his transfer to the club.
Mbappé officially joined Real Madrid last month and has been enjoying his vacation, missing the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.
However, Mbappé has been training diligently, preparing for the UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta on August 15th.
Marca reports that Mbappé will not be granted the privilege of taking penalties at Real Madrid in the upcoming season.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti will be choosing Vinícius Júnior as the team’s designated penalty taker for the upcoming season. The Brazilian star was also the penalty taker for Real Madrid last season.
Previously, Mbappé was the designated penalty taker at Paris Saint-Germain. During the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season, Mbappé successfully converted six penalties.
In the 2024 summer friendlies, Real Madrid lost to AC Milan and Barcelona, but defeated Chelsea. They will then return to Spain to prepare for the upcoming UEFA Super Cup.
Ancelotti told reporters in the United States, “Mbappé is clearly available for the Super Cup. Bellingham will also be available, and the other players as well. They are ready, the players have been following the plan, and everyone is available.”
