Spanish outlet Relevo reports that Real Madrid is internally investigating the cause of the team’s frequent ACL tears.
Speaking of injuries, Real Madrid has been incredibly unlucky. In the past month alone, three Real Madrid players have suffered ACL tears, the latest victim being rising star, Joan Martínes. Despite being just 16 years old, he was already being tipped as a regular member of Carlo Ancelotti’s first team.
César Palacios, who also went on Real Madrid’s pre-season tour of the USA, suffered an ACL tear earlier this month in a game against AC Milan. Before that, U19 player Daniel Mezónero had a similar injury back in July.
In the space of 12 months, a total of six Real Madrid players have suffered ACL tears, including the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Éder Militão and David Alaba. The club is at a loss to understand why these injuries keep happening. At the club’s training ground, they are already wondering what is causing this increasing trend.
It’s a dire situation for Real Madrid, with Martínes’ injury potentially forcing them into the transfer market, especially as Alaba is not expected to return until 2025.
