Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has said he wants to continue to be successful at the club.
The 28-year-old played a key role in Real Madrid’s pre-season preparations as Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde were late to join up following their summer holidays. However, with limited playing time last season, his place in the squad is still in doubt.
Speaking to Relevo, Ceballos said: “The transfer market is still open for a few days, but I don’t think there will be much movement. The coach knows what I want. Pre-season has given me confidence. Ancelotti knows the demands I made to him and he has also made his demands to me.”
“The playing time will be earned. Playing 10, 15 or 20 minutes in the Real Madrid shirt is much better than playing 10 games in another team’s shirt, as Zidane used to say. The easiest thing is to give up, but I hope to have minutes and succeed here.”
Ceballos has reportedly been told that he will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives, but considering he is one of only five central midfielders in the squad (excluding Bellingham), Real Madrid are not keen to let him go easily. Last season, Ceballos only played 864 minutes, starting just eight games, far fewer than the previous campaign. He signed a new four-year deal last year, keeping him at the club until 2027.
