Barcelona Won’t Give Up on Fati, But Open to Offers Over €40 Million

June 26th, according to a report by Pol Ballús, deputy editor of Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will not give up on Ansu Fati. The player was once hailed as the heir to the club’s iconic No. 10 shirt before suffering a left knee meniscus injury in 2020.

Fati’s current contract with the club runs until June 2026. In reality, Barcelona has been dissatisfied with the arrangement of paying most of the player’s salary while loaning him out to other clubs, as seen in his recent loan spell at Brighton. The club’s internal hope is that Fati will be wearing a Barcelona jersey next season and fighting for his place in the team.

Another solution would be to let the player go if a club were to make an offer close to or exceeding €40 million during the transfer window.

The club’s new coach, Xavi, hopes to see Fati during the pre-season to make a final decision, rather than prioritizing a loan or sale.

At 21 years old, Fati spent last season on loan at Brighton in the Premier League, where he appeared 19 times, starting only three games and scoring two goals. His current Transfermarkt valuation is approximately €25 million.
