On August 23, according to Spanish media outlet Sport, Barça center-back Faye has reached an agreement with Ligue 1 club Rennes. He is set to leave Barça, paving the way for the registration of Olmo.
It is reported that Rennes will pay Barça €11 million in fixed fee plus €4 million in add-ons. According to Sport, Barça retained a 30% future sale and buy-back option for the next two seasons, with the amount set at $25 million.
Faye’s priority was to play in France, although he also received offers from Eindhoven and Frankfurt. But ultimately he chose Rennes’ offer. Faye is currently still training under Flick’s direction. He will go to the Joan Gamper Sports City on Friday morning to say goodbye to his teammates and technical staff. Afterwards, he will travel to Rennes, France, for a medical before signing his new contract.
The report states that Faye’s departure makes Barça more optimistic about the registration of new signing Olmo.
