Vinicius Jr. clashes with the referee: “Don’t talk to me, talk to the captain”

Vinicius Jr. was once again at the center of attention during Real Madrid’s match against Mallorca. The Brazilian star was subjected to jeers from Mallorca fans whenever he touched the ball. Vinicius even complained to referee Cesar Soto Grado about the fans’ reactions every time he received the ball.

The incident stemmed from a tackle by Samuel Costa that sent Vinicius to the ground. The referee deemed that Costa had made contact with the ball and did not award a foul. From that moment on, Vinicius was met with whistles whenever he touched the ball.

During the game, Vinicius also complained to Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre, stating that the entire stadium was booing him. The jeers subsided as the match progressed, until the end of the first half when Pablo Maffeo stepped on Vinicius, triggering controversy and earning Maffeo a yellow card.

It is worth noting that Vinicius also clashed with the match referee. Vinicius deliberately instigated a confrontation between Real Madrid and Mallorca fans on the sidelines. Referee Soto Grado reprimanded Vinicius, but the Brazilian responded: “Don’t talk to me, go talk to Dani (Carvajal).” This implied that the referee should address Real Madrid’s captain instead of him.

Vinicius has experienced similar situations at Mallorca, particularly with Mallorca players Pablo Maffeo and Antonio Raíllo. Despite the tense atmosphere at the start of the match, Vinicius remained very active and contributed to Rodrygo’s goal, helping Real Madrid take the lead. However, Real Madrid ultimately failed to secure the victory.
