According to Spanish television channel Telecinco, Barcelona are actively seeking a top winger to strengthen their attack. AC Milan’s forward Rafael Leao has emerged as one of their main targets. However, Milan’s CEO Giorgio Furlani has categorically denied the possibility of Leao joining Barcelona in an interview.
When asked about Leao’s potential transfer to Barcelona, Furlani stated definitively: “No.” He was equally firm in his affirmation that Leao will remain at Milan: “Of course.” Furlani further emphasized that the chances of Leao joining Barcelona are zero.
Telecinco reports that Barcelona are more likely to sign Federico Chiesa than Leao. Juventus, Chiesa’s current club, are open to selling the player, and Chiesa himself is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona and is even willing to accept a pay cut to facilitate the transfer. Juventus are reportedly asking for a transfer fee of €15 million for Chiesa.
In contrast, AC Milan have set a €120 million price tag for Leao, which is clearly beyond Barcelona’s current financial capabilities. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Barcelona are facing serious financial issues and are even struggling to register new signing Daniel Olmo for this summer. As a result, their transfer activity is practically at a standstill. In this context, Barcelona signing the expensive Leao seems highly unrealistic.
