Valencia suffered their second consecutive defeat on Wednesday morning, losing 1-3 away to Celta Vigo in the second round of La Liga. They lost 1-2 to Barcelona at home in the opening round of La Liga.
After the team’s two consecutive defeats, Valencia legend Mario Kempes expressed his deep concern about the team’s poor start to the new season in a 90-second video. Wearing a Valencia jersey, he spoke frankly: “As a former Valencia player, I am heartbroken to see the team’s current situation. Two defeats, this is not what we expect from Valencia, nor is it what we deserve.”
Kempes then directly appealed to the club’s majority shareholder, Peter Lim: “Valencia is not just a football club, it represents a long history, passion, and legacy. I want to tell Mr. Lim, Valencia needs a leader who can take on the mission of success and respect its history.”
He further asked Lim to consider stepping down from club management: “We cannot let Valencia’s greatness fade away in mediocrity. If Mr. Lim believes he cannot lead the club to the heights it deserves, I beg him to step aside gracefully and hand over control to those who can restore Valencia’s glory. Valencia is a symbol of pride for all of us who support and love it. “
Kempes also posted this message on social media, reiterating: “Mr. Lim, I urge you, as the club’s owner, to manage Valencia with commitment and dedication. If you feel that you cannot effectively control the situation, I beg you to step aside and give the opportunity to those who have a greater passion and vision for the club.”
