August 24, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham spoke about his injury absence, saying he hates missing games but needs rest after a year of high-intensity football.
Bellingham suffered a calf muscle strain in his right leg after a collision during training, an injury that is expected to keep him out for a month. This will see Bellingham miss at least three La Liga matches and two England Nations League games. In fact, Bellingham had already been struggling with shoulder and ankle injuries earlier in 2024.
In the 2023-24 season, Bellingham helped Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League, and this summer he helped England reach the final of the European Championships. The high frequency of games has taken its toll on Bellingham, who spoke about his injury absence, saying: “There is nothing I hate more than missing games. But I still see the positive side, maybe my body is telling me that after a year of high-intensity games, it needs to rest. I’m frustrated about the injury, but I will be supporting the guys on the pitch just like the fans, until I can return to the team in better shape.”
