Sport: Barça director Deco is keeping an eye on Sancho

Barça sporting director Deco is reportedly monitoring the situation of Jadon Sancho.

Sancho could be one of the big names of the transfer market at the end of August. Manchester United don’t use the left winger much, but they want to sell him for at least €40 million. So far, no club has made an offer to buy him, and some clubs believe he could end up going out on loan.

Sport has learned that Barça’s sporting director Deco is keeping a close eye on Sancho, as he could be a good option for Barça if he were to arrive on loan. However, his salary is very high, and it would have to be paid in full.

Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. The transfer fee was estimated at €85 million at the time, and Sancho signed a five-year contract with Manchester United until June 2026. Sancho’s performances at Manchester United have gradually declined, and at the start of his third season, Dutch coach Erik ten Hag questioned his lack of commitment in training, leaving him out of the squad. Eventually, Sancho returned to his former club Borussia Dortmund on loan in January this year.

The 24-year-old has played 83 games for Manchester United, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists, with a total of 5,001 minutes played. His last appearance was on August 10th in the Community Shield final against Manchester City, which Manchester United lost on penalties. Sancho came on as a substitute in the 83rd minute, replacing Marcus Rashford. Before that, his last appearance for Manchester United was on August 26, 2023, in the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest (3-2 win). He was not included in the squad for the first Premier League match of the 2024/25 season, on August 16th, when Manchester United beat Fulham (1-0).
