In the first round of La Liga, Barça played away against Valencia. Currently on vacation, Barça player Fermín shared a screenshot of the match on social media to cheer on the team, but his act sparked controversy. The screenshot revealed that he was watching the match through an illegal stream.
According to reports, La Liga president Javier Tebas and the league’s anti-piracy department are closely monitoring a recent arrest in the UK. Two suspects were arrested and detained for alleged audio-visual fraud. Tebas stated on his social media accounts: “These criminals are falling one by one. Some people disregard audio-visual fraud (piracy), but they will eventually pay the price for their actions. We will ensure that these thieves are held accountable by the law.”
Just hours after Tebas’ statement, Barça player Fermín López posted a story showing him watching the Barça match live through an illegal link, not using La Liga’s official streaming channels. The icon in the top left corner exposed his actions.
Fermín wrote in the post: “Come on, my teammates!” However, after a few minutes, Fermín deleted the story and uploaded a photo of the team members standing at the center circle before the match started.
