August 15 – According to Spanish outlet Six TV, Barcelona defender Clément Lenglet is hoping to join title rivals Atlético Madrid on loan before the end of the summer transfer window. Barcelona are willing to enter negotiations, but the deal hinges on Atlético’s willingness to cover a significant portion of his wages.
The 29-year-old French center-back joined Barcelona in 2018 for a fee of €35.9 million. He began losing his place in the starting lineup in 2022, and was subsequently loaned to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in the Premier League. Last season, he made 25 appearances for Aston Villa, starting 24 times, and registering one assist. His current market value is estimated at €10 million.
It is understood that Lenglet’s contract with Barcelona runs until June 2026.
