Renowned Journalist: No €1 Billion Offer from Saudi Clubs, Doesn’t Believe Vinicius is Interested

Renowned journalist and football market expert Matteo Moretto spoke to the media outlet “Spanish Football” about several current transfer hot topics, including Federico Chiesa, Paulo Dybala, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Clément Lenglet. When asked about Vinicius Jr., Moretto stated that he doesn’t believe the Saudis have made a formal offer, and the supposed interest from the Saudi side could be exaggerated.

Recently, several Spanish media outlets have been fueling speculation about Saudi clubs offering Vinicius Jr. a massive contract (reportedly a 5-year deal exceeding €1 billion, including bonuses), tempting him to join the Middle Eastern league. Notably, “Marca” and “AS” have even reported that the transfer fee for Vinicius Jr. could reach €400 million, breaking the all-time transfer record. Spanish media have described it as “a monstrous offer that Real Madrid and the player simply cannot ignore.”

However, Moretto has a different perspective: “I have no doubt that Saudi clubs have contacted Vinicius Jr.’s entourage to gauge their interest in moving to the Saudi league. But I am not aware of any concrete offers, especially for Vinicius Jr. And I don’t think either Vinicius Jr. or Eder Militão would be particularly interested in a move to Saudi Arabia. Of course, you can never be completely certain. But personally, I believe their interest has been somewhat exaggerated by the media.”

Moretto pointed out: “It’s important to emphasize that Saudi clubs haven’t been splashing the cash as they did last summer, breaking transfer records left and right. If they were truly offering such an exorbitant sum, I would be surprised. In short, I believe they have inquired about the situation, but it seems a bit strange to me.”

Other media outlets have echoed similar sentiments to Moretto’s. For example, Relevo recently published an article suggesting that it is not clear whether the Saudis would actually offer a huge salary and transfer fee to entice Vinicius Jr. However, the player’s agent team will certainly use this opportunity to negotiate a favorable deal and demand a substantial raise from Real Madrid. In conclusion, the current situation requires Real Madrid to carefully navigate the situation.
