According to L’Équipe, Lyon have still not paid the first instalment of Mikautadze’s transfer fee, and FC Metz have contacted the French Professional Football League’s legal commission to fight for their rights.
Metz officially bought Mikautadze at the end of last season, paying Ajax €13 million. In the subsequent European Championships, Mikautadze impressed with 3 goals and an assist, attracting the interest of Lyon.
In mid-July, Lyon announced the signing of Mikautadze for a fixed transfer fee of €18.5 million, plus €4.5 million in bonuses. According to the agreement between the two clubs, Lyon were supposed to pay €8 million on August 1st. However, by August 10th, Lyon had only paid Metz €3 million. Ultimately, Metz, having had enough, decided to appeal to the league’s legal commission.
