On July 5, according to L’Équipe, the Ligue 1 will consider DAZN’s latest offer for the broadcast rights of Ligue 1 matches.
With less than two months left before the start of the new Ligue 1 season, no broadcaster has yet partnered with Ligue 1, which not only worries the league but also angers the Ligue 1 clubs. After all, without broadcast rights money, Ligue 1 teams will find it difficult to implement their transfer plans.
Previously, Ligue 1 hoped to secure €1 billion in broadcasting fees for the next cycle (2024-2029), but DAZN did not agree to this request. Since then, Ligue 1 has been in close contact with the broadcaster to ensure a new deal.
According to L’Équipe, DAZN is now considering making a new offer. Over the next five seasons, DAZN will offer an average of €375 million per year to purchase the rights for all the key matches in each round of Ligue 1. In the first season, DAZN will pay €300 million, and this will increase to €500 million in the last season.
It is worth mentioning that Ligue 1 will also receive a bonus of €50 million if the number of viewers exceeds 2 million.
