According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, former Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, 27, is on the verge of joining Ligue 1 side Nice on a free transfer. The two parties are expected to sign a two-year deal.
Ndombele initially joined Tottenham in 2019 from Lyon for a fee of €62 million. However, due to inconsistent performances and frequent injuries, Tottenham began loaning him out in 2021. He has spent time on loan at Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray.
Ndombele’s contract with Tottenham was set to expire in 2025. However, the two parties reached an amicable agreement to terminate the contract a year early, making Ndombele a free agent this summer.
Reports indicate that Ndombele has decided to return to Ligue 1 by joining Nice on a free transfer. He has reportedly turned down offers from multiple European clubs as well as Saudi Arabian clubs.
