On July 8, former Paris coach Luis Fernandez talked about French star Kylian Mbappé, the top scorer in the history of Paris Saint-Germain. He believes Mbappé is not the greatest player in PSG history.
The 64-year-old French coach coached Paris Saint-Germain twice, from 1994 to 1996 and from 2000 to 2003. During his playing career, he made 273 appearances for Paris, scoring 39 goals.
Luis Fernandez said: “When you say Mbappé is the best player in PSG history, could I say that Messi is the best player in PSG history? We can’t define it that way. Since the club’s foundation in 1974, every generation has had great players. We have to respect them, but there’s no need to say this player is better than another. For Mbappé, we can’t ignore his talent and his contribution to Paris, but Mbappé is not the greatest player in Paris, he’s just one of the greatest, like Ronaldinho and others.”
Mbappé arrived in Paris from Monaco in Ligue 1 in 2017 and has made 308 appearances for the club, scoring 256 goals and providing 108 assists, helping Paris to win six league titles.
