According to the Daily Mail, Marseille are close to signing Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood, which has sparked protests from some angry Marseille fans. A statement on the French OM forum reads:
“As talks for Greenwood’s arrival intensify, it seems necessary to reiterate the importance of considering the values of the club before causing irreversible damage, such a transfer is unimaginable. For many of us, this is a red line, which will inevitably damage our love for the club.”
The hashtag #GreenwoodNotWelcome has been created and shared on X (Twitter), calling on Marseille not to sign the England forward.
Greenwood met with Manchester United officials at Carrington on Monday, but did not train with his teammates on the first day of pre-season. All signs point to him leaving the club. He has not played for Manchester United since January 2022, when he was charged with sexual assault. Although the charges were dropped after the witnesses withdrew their accusations, Greenwood’s image has been tarnished since then.
